ABDOMINAL THERAPY

(sometimes known as Maya Abdominal Massage)

Developed by Dr Rosita Arvigo, DN, after apprenticing with Don Elijio Panti, one of the last Traditional Maya Shamans in Central America. Rosita wove the threads of ancient healing traditions together with a scientific understanding to create Abdominal Therapy. She was given Don Elijio’s blessing to teach this important work.

Abdominal Therapy is a blend of massage and healing techniques that address mind, body, and spirit concerns. It focuses on organs, muscles, and fascia of the abdomen and pelvis supporting the body’s natural healing capacity and looks to resolve the root cause of dis-ease.

By aiming to improve N.A.V.E.L (Nerve condition, Arterial blood, Venous blood, Energy flow, and Lymphatic flow), or the five systems of flow, it can help to improve balance within the body, it can aid haemodynamics, and provide support for the body’s self-regulating, self-healing, self-regenerating healing capacity. Aiming to remove obstructions and deterrents to healing, allowing vital fluids and energy to flow, revitalise, and nourish our organs.

This may result in improved digestion, circulation, as well as better menstrual, reproductive, and sexual health.

You will also be shown how to massage your own abdomen. With regular self-care massage called Your Abdominal Massage (YAM), you can maintain the positive effects of your treatment and help gain control over your well-being.

Please note: Abdominal Therapy is contraindicated during pregnancy and in the postpartum period for up to 6 weeks for vaginal delivery and up to 3 months for Caesarean delivery.
